Syntax - researching for the blue drink that will be sold

I decided that I wanted a blue drink to be sold at the gig, each gig would have the different colours that support that specific song.

I found a few images I can manipulate

At the moment this seems the best one to work with, seeing it's in a plastic cup, more realistic to what would be used at a gig.

Like how this one has an obvious gradient, but maybe not quite the gradient I would like. I prefer when the whole drink is blue with a slight gradient.

Merchandise for o2 gig for Syntax.

The overall identity that runs throughout Syntax is the bright colours/gradients.
I have thought about merchandise that could be sold/given out at the gig, I like the idea of using glow sticks but I had the idea of having a gradient within the stick's colours.

e.g

the colours for the gig itself that are featured in the poster and the ticket is the dark to light blue gradient. I have added this gradient to a glow stick.

I have also decided that I am going to produce CD cases as appose to LPs that would be sold at the gig, alongside t shirts and posters for the individual singles. I also might design a cover that will contain a CD with all 4 singles on it?

- t shirts (for each single)
- posters (for each single)
- CDs (for each single)
- signed LPs (for each single)
-glow sticks bought with a 20p donation
- special blue vodka drinks?? cheaper drink option.

Syntax,

I feel that the music produced by Syntax is quite sophisticated. It is described as 'electronic' and I feel that the use of a combination of lots of sounds is important.

I think colour will be something that will play a large role in helping to express their music through visual representation.

Some of their music,

Further thought on music identity brief,

More indie/folk influenced. I'm not really focusing on the style of the music, I want it to have to develop from research into the artist, not from something I know/love.

POSSIBLE ARTIST REBRAND/IDENTITY DESIGN - SYNTAX

UK - based

"Syntax is an English Electronic music group originally formed in 2002 by the musicians Jan BurtonMike Tournier (ex-member of the band Fluke). They are best known for the songs "Destiny", "Bliss" and "Pride". (also the band's vocalist) and

History

After the success of Fluke's album Risotto, Mike Tournier wanted to move to a much darker production style. He left Fluke and founded Syntax with Jan Burton in 2002.
In 2004, Syntax released their debut album Meccano Mind on Illustrious Records. The Japanese edition included three additional tracks, entitled "Sexograph", "Woman", and "Love Song (I Wonder Why)". Meccano Mind is a combination of Burton and Tournier's different influences from rock and dance music.
Three singles were issued: "Pray", "Message" and "Bliss".
Despite the originality of Meccano Mind, the band suffered poor album sales, possibly due to a lack of support from their record label and a lack of overall recognition. In 2004 the group split.
Their music featured on various TV series, film and games like The O.C., Nip/Tuck, The Invisible and DRIV3R, and now the trailer for the 2011 film, "In Time".

"Graphic identity for the public art exhibition, Anyang, 2007, designed in collaboration with Paul Elliman. We constructed the identity around a set of multiple logotypes, using Elliman’s typeface Bits: typographic forms based on discarded objects found in urban environment. As a dynamic city cannot be reduced to a singular, fixated emblem, the identity of APAP 2007 attempts to reflect the diversity of life in Anyang. In ‘appropriating’ abandoned objects and ‘regenerating’ and ‘transforming’ them into a new visual language, the identity blurs the boundary between language and materiality, representation and object, as well as art and life.
