I have decided that in order to produce large enough film posters, I am going to try and use some of the larger photographs I sourced for my previous film magazine brief.
I have developed a film poster for The Adventures Of Tintin:
Initial image:
Here is what I have done to the image to produce an A2 sized, portrait poster.
Image
- Created blue background same colour as the sky (roughly)
- Expanded clouds and sky background of original image
- Deleted and re-positioned the plane, and blurred to give it an effect of it being further away
- Increased contrast of image
- Added more clouds using white to zero gradient and brush tool
- created overlay block colour of a dark blue and light blue
- expanded sea at the bottom to give more room for billing block etc...
- added darker gradients around the corners and a beam of yellow onto the characters
- I have also created a radial gradient that focuses on the main title, with an added cloud filter for texture
Text
- I created a billing block from inspiration from existing tintin poster (also added logos of film producers/sponsors)
- chosen typeface for main title Helvetica Neue (bold, black, light, regular)
- Edited main type with a drop shadow, outer glow and gradient overlay
Here is the poster at the moment, I will develop further:
