One flew over the cuckoo's nest, initial design start

Starting to develop the idea of using lines to represent personalities etc...
mishapen/crazy lines as a way to represent the personalities of people at the institution
a curve to represent main character, as he has faked his mental state of mind.

trying new colours, however this seems to look a bit like crayons/too childish. It's quite a mature book so I don't want it to seem it's targeted towards children.

thick lines seem to make it look more crayon/pen drawings. Also I don't like a solid block colour, it needs more authenticity

I created a grained effect in Photoshop, and chose a darker red, to suggest a little more darkness in the plot itself. I feel the squiggles are playful enough to balance this.

thinner lines looks better

I added more lines, it also sort of represents aspects of an actual nest??
